A view into my journey to train for the biggest race of my life. I am a full time professional who is dedicated to personal health and wellness and achievement. In my "spare" time I will be training intensely to completely my first 24 hour solo endurance mountain bike race in October 2015. I'll be sharing my journey. I will include both my struggles and successes.

Post workout
Today was a gym workout. In training for the mountain bike race season I like to incorporate flexibility, strength and core training. I did an hour of pilates. Got some cardio on the elliptical. Not exciting but good for gentle cross training. I also worked with my personal trainer for an hour of weight training. Now, relaxing on the couch. Hoping the weather will hold out for a ride tomorrow.

Back up bike
Never hurts to have a back up bicycle if the budget can handle it. I normally ride a cross country mountain bike - Orbea Occam S10. It's a carbon full suspension bike. I have in reserve an older bike, a hard tail aluminum, Orbea Alma H10, as a back up. Used to be a die hard hard-tail rider. But after riding a full suspension, I'm reluctant to ride a hard tail. That said, it's a handy back up when the baby is being refurbished.

Planning on staying nearby in Franfort, MI. But it's a short drive to winter fun. Plan on fat biking and skiing. I've done some mountain biking in the fall in the past here. Nice place.

Flipping over handlebars...
Ever have one of those spectacular crashes while mountain biking that you know would have gone viral on YouTube if only it was caught on a GoPro video?

Traveling
It's always fun to travel. I especially enjoy remaining active and being able to mountain bike even when I go out of town. The challenge is making sure you have the correct case for your bike! I just realized today that my bike case doesn't work well with the bike I'm trading on trip by plane. Thank goodness I have a great relationship with my local bike shop and they are helping me out. Here's to making it all work out.

Countdown: 301 days to WEMBO - weaverville24.us
Currently in the "off" season. Holidays are approaching so therefore so is the New Year 2015. With the start of the New Year I will be starting a journey to complete my first 24 hour solo mountain bike race. Wish me luck. I have a lot of training to do and will be sharing this process step by step, race by race leading up to the big event.
